QUILTING Creating One of a Kind Quilts: This class will show you how to draw your design freehand and produce a One of a Kind Quilt. 1 Day Class Random Piecing With Color in Mind: This class will teach you to be free and just go for it. The colors that you work with and the cuts you make will provide the wonderful elements that develop. There are no templates used in this class. 1 Day Class Collage: In this class you will work with fabric scrapes, lots of thread and your imagination. Raw edge appliqué and machine quilted. 1 Day Class The Quilt That Did Not Turn Out As You Thought: Got the quilt finished and bound but it is not right. In this class you will cut that quilt up and make a new one or two or three out of the existing one. What fun to add found objects, put on a fish etc. 1 Day Class FABRIC DYEING The Basics of Hand Dyeing: Learn the basic of hand dyeing. You will learn two methods of hand dyeing; you will be explore fabric types, dyes, dye processes and safety. 1 Day Class Intermediate Hand Dyeing: This class explores resists, over dye, stacked dyeing and discuss surface design techniques. Most have had the basic class. 1 Day Class The basic and intermediate class may be taught as a 2 day class. Art Cloth Design: You will come to class with dyed fabric that you will silkscreen, discharge, over dye, shadow stamp, foil and pole dye. 1 Day Class Sun Painting: This is a summer class where you will paint fabric with a special paint, the results from the paints and the objects used for the patterns are a true surprise. We will discuss fabric and paints. 1 Day Class. Batik: You will learn to the batik process, fabric selection and the types of wax, dyes, paints and tools was waxing. 1 Day Class 3 Day Workshop: You will cover the basic, intermediate plus painting with dyes, free from dyeing and silkscreen. GARMENTS - WEARABLE ART Vest, Coat or Jacket Pieced: Using a foundation piece you will create a one of a kind pieced garment. Collage: Using a foundation piece you will create a collage with raw edge appliqué then machine quilt the garment. Coat or Jacket -- Surface Design: You will learn techniques that will provide your garment with texture and surface embellishment i.e.: fabric paints, foiling, stitching. GENERAL INFORMATION: 1 Day Class = 6 hours -- all classes are hands on -- fabrics used are cotton, silks and rayon for dyeing classes. Fee Schedule: 1 Day Class $450.00 2 Day Class 750.00 3 Day Class 1250.00 Maximum students per class: 20 Travel and Lodging: Round trip air from Sacramento with transportation to and from the airport at destination. Travel at $.48.5 per mile from home to airport and return to home -- total of 134 miles RT. Local travel at $.48.5 per mile. Lodging with a non-smoking member or non-smoking motel are requested. Meals provided by the hiring guild.
